Warrior Luke – Update & Progress!

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim‘s student, Luke, continues to train hard at Jung SuWon.

In a recent class, Great Grandmaster Kim asked him to perform a 5 board spinning round house kick break to demonstrate the proper leg position during a spinning round house kick.

Spinning round house is  a difficult technique to do by itself, but targeting 5 boards in a row is very challenging!

Of course, before that night, he had no idea he would be doing this break! Students at Jung SuWon don’t practice breaking techniques.  Great Grandmaster Kim usually surprises her students on the spot!

Warrior Luke applied all the teachings he has learned from Great Grandmaster Kim and focused on this difficult breaking demonstration.

And he did it!

Warrior Luke – Miracles of Miracles!

Warrior Luke once was a “non” student… what is this?  This is someone who “goes” to school, but doesn’t get anything out of school.  Ditches classes, doesn’t do homework, fools around…and can actually fail woodshop.

The failure only occurred because he never applied himself, never tried to do well, never CARED.

He was not motivated and didn’t receive much support from his family.  They were always fighting and never communicated well.

Let’s flip the page in his book of life and see what he is doing today!

He is studious. He learns fast and remembers well. He applies himself.

Warrior Luke – Long Staff training

Warrior Luke is learning how to use the Long Staff, or in Korean, “Bong”

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim has given Warrior Luke an amazing opportunity to demonstrate what he has learned at various martial art demonstrations, including the Investiture of the Orders of Constantine the Great and of St. Helen.

Warrior Training – Archery!

At Tae Yun Kim International University, one activity that our Warriors experience is: ARCHERY!

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim teaches that archery isn’t just about shooting arrows at targets, but it is symbolic of our lives.

When you focus on a goal in your life (like a target), you have to be calm and determined.  You can’t let the environment distract you.  It takes effort to reach your goal (just like pulling the string on the bow takes effort) and sometimes, when you aim, you miss the target.

Do you give up?

No!  It takes Practice to achieve your goals!  You have to be determined and try again and again, adjusting your aim slightly in order to hit your target!

Tae Yun Kim International University Provides Exciting Training!

Through the Tae Yun Kim International University program, the students occasionally participate in some exciting training classes!

Sarang had always wanted to go sky diving and in July 2011, her dream came true!

The thrill of flying in an airplane and then jumping out is a huge rush!

All the warrior students that day had a fantastic time!

If you’ve never been skydiving before, it is an amazing experience to realize that you are falling through the sky at an incredible speed.  When your parachute is pulled, since there is no frame of reference next to you, it doesn’t feel like you are falling…until the ground comes shooting up at you, that is!   But don’t worry…the jumpmasters are very professional and expert at guiding each student to a safe landing.

Great Grandmaster Dr. Tae Yun Kim trains each person according to his/her needs.  No two students are identical.  Not even twins!  Everyone has their own issues to work on.

Warrior Sarang before and after!!

This is Warrior Sarang the day she arrived July 15, 2011…when she met Dr. Tae Yun Kim.

Warrior Sarang has had many different kinds of training opportunities with Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim over the past 8 months… from Sky Diving to Gardening… from Archery to Fashion Modeling…from learning about marketing and business to focusing Ki energy to take down a tree (more on this later!)

And of course, traditional training at Jung SuWon Martial Art Academy… Warrior style.
